Sounds

Over the years, the band made three records - an eponymous debut, the 7-track follow-up 'Use Forgotten Tools' and 'ARGH e.p.', their latest offering, as well as contributed a recording to a compilation:

ARGH e.p.

(Recorded by Thomas Bryan at Intimate Studios, 26th - 27th May 2007)

  1. Mexicanism
  2. New Rock
  3. Warninglid
  4. Wait Until Dark

This EP was recorded at an amazing studio in London over Easter. We had two days, and recorded and mixed the lot in that time, so the basis for the ep is a live recording. Nothing could stop us digging around in the studio and we did unearth a rhodes and hammond part or two, along with our first ever vocal part (it was supplied by Matt, and gives the EP its name).

The cover was drawn by Alex Curtis of thr33designs, and the fleshy men make us feel slightly ill. We love it and she's brilliant!

We have copies of this CD (with covers in pink, blue, green or yellow) at all of our gigs, or email us at theband [at] waragainstcliche [dot] com and we can post one out to you.

Use Forgotten Tools

(recorded by owen turner at the sickroom, dec'04)

  1. Princess-X
  2. War Against Cliche
  3. The Art of Poetry is Dying
  4. Kneejerk Practice
  5. Solutions for Solved Problems
  6. New Theory / Robots
  7. The Cathode Fucking Ray Syndrome*

we recorded these 7 songs in the winter, but spent months and months constructing the packaging by hand. a bit of a labour of love, our lovely orange cardboard packets were printed on old-style presses and cut and assembled with care by us. it's a short run of 200, with each cd numbered. they seem to be going down a treat.

buy them on here with paypal, or from us at gigs, same price. or email us, ask for our address, then post a cheque. that's definitely more complicated though.

only short samples from most of the tunes can be downloaded. the war against cliche however is free to download in it's entirety. other tunes can be listened to in full on our myspace page.

Wild Skies (compilation)

(recorded by davey at noteworthy studios, may'02)

  1. Princess-X (slow dirty version)

the reason we sit on the fenland section of wild skies - for anyone familiar with cambridge's local geography - is because we lied ourselves in. we will forever be known as a haslingfield band. it was the only section with a session missing, so after the deadlines had closed, we still managed to get our tune through. free recording time can't be knocked, and our part seemed to liven up our volume anyways. our company (with perhaps one exception for comedy's sake) was not esteemed, hence our track being offered in full here.

The Cathode Ray Syndrome*

(self-recorded demo, may'01)

  1. Fight or Flight
  2. The Flood: W.W.S.O.C?
  3. Prometheus One
  4. Sample (Jenny Holzer monologue)
  5. Fixed / Forgotten
  6. All of them Witches
  7. The Art of Poetry is Dying

each one of our old demos had been lovingly assembled by hand and featured a numbered polaroid mounted on the cover. we have however sold all but a few, which lie in an unruly heap in someones' dad's garage. so don't ask us to send one out.
